The NVFCA is a part of the Interboro Mutual Aid Group with primary responsibility for conducting an annual parade each year to mark Fire Prevention Week and promote the prevention of fires in the Northern Valley in Bergen County, NJ. 

The 2008 parade was held in Haworth, NJ this past year. 

The 2009 parade will be held in Cresskill, NJ on October 11, 2008.  In 2009 the NVFCA will be looking to expand the emphasis on fire prevention during the parade and during Fire Prevention Week.  All participating fire departments are encouraged to enter a float in this year's parade with a fire prevention theme.

At the April meeting the association's trustees proposed an amendment to the parade rules after meeting with the judges association used to judge the parade.  There was unanimous consensus to make the changes which include using a demerit approach and changing the weigthing used for the Best Overall selection to a balanced 25% for marching, uniform, apparatus, and color guard.   These proposed amendments passed at the June meeting and will be in effect for the 2009 parade.
